Early May 2016: In Spring 2016 I heavily root-pruned my Acer campestre/Field Maple bonsai very late, just as the first leaves were opening and it rewarded me with some very small Spring leaves and internodes. Once the leaves had begun to harden off and the leaf/internode size set I would start fertilizing. Pictured here is the tree as it was in May 2016, and in 2001 when I started its development as a sapling.

Early May 2016: My "office", my bonsai garden with many of the deciduous tree coming into leaf.
Mid-May 2016: What a difference a few days of warmth makes! Everything in my main display area had fully sprung into leaf within a week, except for my European Beech bonsai (front, second from the left) that is always the last tree to leaf-out.
