December 2016: 14 years after I first found the tree growing on a grassy slope in the Greater Manchester area, the Hawthorn in its Winter state. As normal, as soon as the last leaves dropped in Autumn, I pruned back the new growth to just one or two new internodes, and detail-wired any errant shoots.
December 2016: Me pictured alongside the Hawthorn bonsai to give some indication of its size.
Summer 2002 to December 2016: The tree as it was found growing in the ground (it is seen here from the what is now the back of the tree as a bonsai), and at the end of 2016.
