For drainage layers and newly collected trees (yamadori). This substrate can be used as a drainage layer in larger bonsai pots alongside the regular B4Me soil mix, or as an ideal yamadori soil mix, particularly for hard to root UK native species such as hawthorn, pine, blackthorn and especially Yew.
Based on my years of collecting and recovering yamadori, large grain pumice is ideal for encouraging the survival of newly collected trees and has the necessary blend of aeration and water retention for vigorous rootgrowth.
Contains a large percentage of washed large grain pumice, with additional expanded clay, bark and BioChar/Activated Charcoal for growing bonsai, designed by professional bonsai artist Harry Harrington based on many years of experience.
Contains a large percentage of washed large grain pumice, with additional expanded clay, bark and BioChar/Activated Charcoal with added beneficial bacteria guarding against root rot and encouraging strong and healthy roots. I would strongly recommend the addition of around 10% finely chopped live sphagnum moss (not included!).
We aim to deliver within 3 days, however during busy times, soil will have to be made to order and may take upto a week to arrive.
For the best possible recovery for your tree after repotting, I advise using a few pellets of Rootboost from Oceana. A mild fertiliser that encourages very strong root development.
