Fired Akadama allows mature trees to be repotted much much less frequently. As the akadama is harder and stronger, it holds it’s particle structure for much longer, yet roots are still able to penetrate it.
At IBUKI they open and sieve thousands of bags of Akadama. From 1 bag of 14 litre Japanese akadama they can get max 8 litres of usable akadama. That means 6 litres is thrown away!
To get one of these 17l bag of IBUKI Sieved AKADAMA you would need 2-3 bags of the original 14l akadama.
