Growing Olive As Bonsai

This is an Olea sylvestris or Wild Olive bonsai of mine receiving its annual late Summer wire and style. Olive are a fantastic species for bonsai but require a slightly different approach to many European native species.

Fully hardy, they dislike being wet at the roots over the Autumn and Winter when temperatures are below 12C. They also need to be repotted during the growing season; repotting in Spring can cause a lot of problems!
