Video showing Harry Harrington of Bonsai4me.com carving a Ligustrum / Privet bonsai, collected 2 years previously from a hedgerow, by apprentice Sean Stolp. The 45cm/18″ tall tree was very ordinary material for bonsai, having a single live trunk and an area of deadwood stumps at its base. In this video, the area is carved to improve the appearance of the deadwood, to turn it into a feature of the tree as well as hiding the stumps.

Often seen as purely a “beginners bonsai”, this video features my Lonicera nitida “Baggesens Gold” or Shrubby Honeysuckle bonsai and will hopefully give you some ideas for using this species to its potential. A very easy and fast growing species indeed!
